TBI’s 2024 Predictions: Marina Williams, co-CEO, Asacha Media Group

In 2024, Asacha Media Group, led by Marina Williams, is positioned for substantial growth in English language drama and European co-productions, navigating the evolving streaming landscape through strategic partnerships and innovative commercial models, with a focus on investing in top talent, while anticipating a major industry headline of a streamer sale or merger, and highlighting the eagerly anticipated thriller "Tuva" with Rose Ayling-Ellis as a standout project.

2024 is set to be a pivotal year for the global content industry, so TBI has enlisted some of the biggest names in the business to share their thoughts on the major trends of the next 12 months and how they’re going to capitalise on them.

Here, Marina Williams, co-CEO of Asacha Media Group, reveals she is expecting a year of European co-productions and streaming consolidation ahead.

What is the biggest growth area for your company this year?

English language drama and European co-productions. We are also expanding ancillary business off the back of the huge success of The Sea Beyond (Mare Fuori). I expect more partnerships and working with mainstream product which Asacha production companies are very strong at.

What is the key trend going to be in 2024?

I expect there will be some further consolidation on the streamer side, more non-exclusivity in product, studios/streamers licensing product to each other and more creative commercial models such as packaging deals windowing both local and global rights.

What is your New Year’s resolution and why?

To continue to invest and support talent. We operate in a very competitive environment and top talent can help the product to stand out.

What will be the biggest headline (not involving your own company) in 2024 and why?

Sale of one of the streamers or a merger.

What show are you most looking forward to in 2024?

We have several exciting projects which are ready to go to clients. The one that I am most proud of is Tuva, a thriller with Rose Ayling-Ellis. It’s the first time that Red Planet has collaborated with this amazing talent, on a story based on Will Dean’s famous books.
